Together we take care of the planet and our societies
Today, sustainability and ecological and social commitment are not a trend, but a need to be respectful to our planet and the communities that surround us.
At Cerabella we recognize the importance of minimizing our social and environmental impact and are actively committed to it. Thus, we strive to incorporate sustainable practices that lead to the reduction and continuous improvement of our environmental footprint, with the promotion of sustainability initiatives; and guaranteeing, at the same time, strict compliance with all legal requirements, rules, regulations and local and international environmental standards applicable in the development, manufacture and distribution of our products.

COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
At Cerabella we implement a series of environmental management measures aimed at continuously improving the environmental performance of our facilities and production processes, which include: the generation and promotion of the use of renewable energies, the reduction of energy and water consumption and conservation, the prevention of air, water and soil pollution, the minimization and appropriate and selective management of waste, recycling practices,…
Our commitment to the quality and continuous improvement of our products throughout their life cycle leads us to ensure that raw materials comply with applicable regulations and the best professional standards, using top quality materials from trusted suppliers in manufacturing; and making a continuous investment in R&D in the search for increasingly sustainable and local alternatives. However, the use of recycled and recyclable materials and the incorporation of certified materials are encouraged, among others.
In addition, we strive to ensure good practices in our supply chain and work to achieve a supply that guarantees the traceability of the origin of raw materials, the conservation of biodiversity and respect for animal welfare.
In terms of social responsibility, we also implement policies for the recruitment, training and professionalization of local labor.

Ecovadis Certification
Cerabella obtains a “Silver” rating in EcoVadis, after a detailed evaluation of our sustainability performance in areas such as the environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics and sustainable purchasing.

UN Global Compact
At Cerabella we have been signatories since 2021 of the United Nations Global Compact and we are committed to all the principles in Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption, as well as to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ecological footprint
A large part of Cerabella’s suppliers are local companies. This measure drastically reduces the distances in the transport for the supply of raw materials. On the other hand, 100% of the manufacturing of our products takes place in our facilities located in the province of Barcelona.
Therefore, when you purchase and/or consume Cerabella items you have the guarantee that the greatest possible efforts have been made to reduce to the essential minimum the need to bring raw materials from the other side of the world. A contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions on our planet.

Responsibly produced soy
We support responsible soy production through the acquisition of RTRS credits for some collections in our catalog.
The Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) is a global non-profit organization founded in 2006 in Zurich, Switzerland, that promotes the growth of responsible production, trade and use by cooperating with relevant actors in the soy value chain, from production to consumption.

Wax of circular origin
Circular wax is wax that is recovered from used candles. This wax is remelted and reused to make new candles. This is the case, for example, of Cerabella’s outdoor candles.
Precisely for this reason, when a candle with recovered wax has been burning for a while, you can see that, under the first layer of white wax, the circular wax comes out, which usually has a darker color. This shows that the wax is 100% recycled.

Packaging with 100% recyclable and
biodegradable cardboard
At Cerabella we always try to use corrugated cardboard packaging, as it is a biodegradable material, in fact, after organic waste, it is the material that biodegrades the fastest (maximum 1 year). Besides, corrugated cardboard is 100% recyclable, which means that all of its elements can be recycled and, in fact, the paper we find in it, depending on the length of the fibers, can even be recycled up to 7 times!
In addition, we strive to ensure that all the cardboard we use comes from FSC certified suppliers.
We are aware that sometimes packaging with bright colors and satin textures can be more colorful and attractive, but we like unbleached cardboard because it is the material with the least environmental impact. Its manufacture generates 60% less CO2 emissions than the manufacture of packaging made from other materials and it is a packaging that does not lose durability or resistance.

Ecological stone
Ecological stone is a material made from recycled construction elements. It is a solid substance formed by a hydraulic conglomerate, that is, when mixed with water, aggregates, cement and clay, it forms a mortar that we mold with the shape of the container and, once hardened, it is a material as resistant and stable as concrete or stone.
There are different collections of Cerabella candles whose container is made of ecological stone or “eco-stone” recovered from noble by-products. The objective is to reduce the environmental cost as much as possible, since this type of production allows us not to have to use gravel or sand, thus avoiding the wear and tear of rivers and mountains. In addition, since it is not ceramic, firing is not necessary, it is simply forged with air, allowing significant energy savings.

Recycled and recyclable glass containers
Some of Cerabella’s candle containers are made from recycled glass. This glass is made by crushing recovered glass to obtain what is known as a glass hull that, through high-temperature melting processes, becomes a liquid mass that is molded into the shape of the new container and that in our facilities is filled with wax to be converted into a candle.
By giving recycled glass a new use, we contribute to reducing energy consumption by 27%, we help reduce air pollution by 20% and water pollution by 50%, and it means saving natural resources because each kilogram of recovered glass replaces 1.2Kg of virgin materials such as sand, soda, calcium carbonate, etc. In addition, the fact that, once the candle wax is consumed, we can perfectly reuse the container.
